Burger Meats Fun

Tonight's dinner came from Burger Meats Bun

Got points for: providing a whole roll of kitchen towel for paw-wiping
Lost points for: serving the beer in a frosted glass (too cold)

Pleased to meat you.

Well-established in Glasgow, BMB need to stand up to plentiful competition across Edinburgh. They've got off to a good start, with their location and appearance. BMB occupies what was Urban Angel off Broughton St and has a heavily branded, cutesy modern diner feel. Its decor is warmer and more well-rounded than Burger, the other new (ar)rival with which I'm familiar.

The burger was bigger than this makes it look...
Since my stomach is still a bit dodgy, dining pal Raymond nobly took on the bulk of the eating. I wanted him to order the wanky (but secretly-delicious) sounding special: a venison burger with haggis, bramble ketchup and kohlrabi remoulade - the latter of which I think we can all agree sounds more like a George Heriot's pupil than a condiment. Raymond however plumped for the 'Fiery,' with added bacon (good man). He thought it could have had more heat but the jalapeño layer was fire was enough for me.

I had a chocolate milkshake - made with a fresh creme anglaise rather than ice cream (acceptable) but flavoured with syrup (disappointing). But! It came it in a milk bottle, which was very cool. It tasted pleasantly if not deeply chocolatey and the texture was creamy if a bit thin. Raymond had the beer special, a lovely fruity 6% black IPA ('Black Hop Down') by Cromarty. Definitely a higher quality beverage.

Would I go again? On the whole, for price, service and quality, I would definitely go back.
